PTE Academic is the English test you can use to prove your English ability as part of all Australian visa applications. This PTE test is offered in Sydney and other Australian cities also and is accepted by all Australian universities, as well as by professional associations and state government departments.

PTE is a computer-based English language test that non-native English speakers must pass if they wish to study or live completely in Australia. It checks Reading, Composing, Listening and Speaking. PTE concerns frequently evaluate 2 skills, such as listening and reading, or reading and speaking together. The entire test is carried out in a single 3-hour session at a main centre.I want to share my experience about taking several IELTS examinations trying to get that damn 7.0 in every band, then finally deciding to attempt my luck (ahem, my english abilities) at a various examination. Hopefully I will manage to convince others to take the PTE-Academic instead of the IELTS. If you do not wish to check out any of the information and want to get to the end of this, just avoid to the outcomes part.

For those that do not know what any of these tests are, they are standardised english examinations that measure your ability to speak english. These exams are generally needed by universities or federal governments for visa applications if you come from a non-english speaking background. There are multiple exams and they all have a various format, however I will just discuss the PTE and the IELTS. The results from these exams stand for 2 or 3 years, therefore, as an immigrant you might have to take them more than once depending upon your visa scenario. As one of my friends states, it is as if you all of a sudden forget how to speak english, and you go, SORRY!, my results expired I do not know how to ENGLISH any longer!, byeee!
IETLS Vs PTE

Simply put, the main difference between IELTS and PTE is that IELTS is a paper based exam, where you check out and compose your responses in paper, and the PTE is all computer based. In the case of IELTS the speaking part takes the kind of an interview, and in the PTE you merely talk to the computer. ITELS has a maximum rating of 9.0 and PTE has an optimal score of 90. I find the PTE Academic as a more difficult test than the IELTS, because of the complicated content and vocabulary used in the concerns, as the listening and reading passages can be based upon academic readings, making it difficult for somebody that does not have a great grasp of the language. Also, the speaking part consists of a charts and charts section where you have 25 seconds to study the image and 40 seconds to explain it, I discovered that quite daunting at the beginning, however I got utilized to it with practice.
My background

I am from Venezuela and my first language is Spanish. I started finding out english when I was 12 or 13, and when I was 15 I had an actually great handle on the language and was quite proficient by then. In 2007 I took the TOEFL since it was needed by universities in Australia, and I did quite well, at least good enough to enter university. So in 2008, at 18 I transferred to Australia. Then in 2013 I took the IELTS since I was planning to extend my visa, however after doing a whole university course, I was confident in my capability to speak english and I just reviewed the exam format the day in the past. Again, I had no issue in getting the outcome I needed, getting 7.0 or above in every band.

In January 2016 my previous outcomes were no longer legitimate, so I had to take the IELTS again, to be able to get sufficient points for a permanent residency visa application. This is where things got difficult. This time I was likewise confident that I would succeed in the examination, so I studied the format of the exam and practiced concerns for about 2 days. 2 weeks later I get the outcomes and was stunned that I had gotten a 6.5 in my composing band. This was bad, but not terrible considering that I had an 8.5 in the rest of the bands, and an average of 8.0. From the outcomes, I just believed I did not have sufficient words on my essay for the writing area.

Throughout this time I was incredibly hectic in between work and pte coaching online making a video editing application as a side project. This app was taking the majority of my time outside of work, I was not seeing friends or doing anything beyond work. I still managed to get to the fitness center, but I was hooked on getting the app ended up. I decided to take the IELTS again as soon as possible, so that I might get back to operate in the app. Yet once again, another failure in my ability to speak english, this was quite terrible and stressful. Understanding that my stay in this nation depended upon an english exam that I had actually passed previously but for some factor I needed to take again, yes, that had an unfavorable result on me.
